In 1979, from the humble beginnings of 2 employees, and a desk
in his bedroom with sales of "I don't remember, but it wasn't
much," to 400 employees with expected sales of $38 million
in 2007, our President, John Redfern, has stressed integrity, loyalty,
quality and service with both our clients and our employees. This
has resulted in long term relationships and repeat business from
satisfied clients, which has been the foundation of our company's
success and growth.
At Golden State, Inc., we pride ourselves on providing an outstanding
product with employees that achieve the highest level of standards
across the industry. Our multiple layers of management and customer
service - including division leaders, project managers, operations
managers, a general superintendent and client liaisons - allow our
clients to rest assured that there is always a qualified individual
available to meet their needs and uphold our commitment to excellence.

Who We Are John Redfern - Our founder
and President: John Redfern is happily married and the
proud father of 5 children who is lucky enough to live in Incline
Village, when he’s not in the Bay Area. He still feels extremely
blessed to wake up every morning to the challenges and opportunities
that come with running GSI.
John loves sports, especially his 49ers, Warriors and Yankees.
He stays active by mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, skiing, playing
hoops, softball……….and chasing after his 7 year
old twins.
Lance Barbero - Director of Sales and Marketing:
Lance has worked with Golden State for over four years, and has
over 15 years experience in the construction industry. Lance holds
our C-8 license and has immense knowledge in the masonry and concrete
fields. Lance enjoys working in the home building industry and is
thankful for all of the wonderful relationsships that have been
established during his tenure with Golden State.
Lance is happily married to his wife Dayna and has two beautiful
children. Lance enjoys boating, mountain biking, snow skiing, playing
golf and cheering on his Oakland Raiders.

Rashelle Redfern - Controller: Rashelle has been
with Golden State for two and one half years. She has over 8 years
of experience in finance having been employed in the banking field
prior to her time with Golden State.
Rashelle has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Arizona State
University. She loved her time in Arizona but was not fond of heat.
She now resides in the cooler climate of Dublin, CA with her family
which includes her two dogs.
Annalee Fulkerson - Human Resources Director:
Annalee has worked at Golden State for close to two years, and with
the Redferns for more than eight years, beginning at Wells Fargo
Bank in 1999 she worked side by side with Rashelle Redfern (Golden
State’s current Controller). They then attended school in
Arizona together while continuing to work at Wells Fargo. The relationship
continued with Annalee later working as the company’s financial
advisor and liaison with Wells Fargo. In 2005 Golden State acquired
Annalee from Wells Fargo Bank to serve as HR Director.
Annalee lives in Livermore where she grew up and attended local
schools, she was recently married and welcomed her first child in
December 2006.
Michael Powell - Director of Research and Development:
Michael has been with Golden State for almost two years, and has
nearly 20 years experience in a variety of Information Technology
areas, first getting his feet wet by working on UNIX guided missile
systems in the military, working for a software development company,
and running a local Geek Squad.
Michael holds a Bachelors degree in Business and Information Systems,
and a Masters degree in Database Development and Administration.
Michael currently resides in Concord, CA with his wife and three
children. In his spare time, Michael enjoys golf, billiards, and
amateur radio (KI6KGR).

Shawn Walker - Director of Construction: Shawn
has been with Golden State for over five years. He has been in the
construction industry for over 25 years bringing a wealth of knowledge
and experience from framing homes to being a project manager for
a major builder.
Shawn holds our B license and insures that all work gets installed
professionally, per plans and on time.
Rick Haffner - Director of Estimating: Rick has
been with Golden State for six years, has 30 years experience in
landscape construction while working for only three companies. Ten
years ago Rick left the field and began to apply his knowledge to
design and estimating.
Nancy Robbins - Finance Director: Nancy Robbins
has been with Golden State for over 7 years. She started out running
accounts payables and receivables, human resources, insurance –
health, auto, general liability and workman’s compensation
and general financial responsibilities.
As the company grew so did the job functions mentioned above, thus
Nancy’s main focus became accounts receivable, contract administrator,
customer relations, and general financial management. She is a key
resource for the other departments now held by others within the
company.
She has over 18 years of experience in Marketing and Sales; selling
Ocean Pacific and PCH clothing line from Fresno to the Oregon border
to selling Restaurant and Janitorial Supplies to Distributors in
the East Bay. Nancy holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration
with a concentration in Marketing from California Polytechnic State
University in San Luis Obispo, California.
Brian Moss - Chief Mechanic: Brian has been with
Golden State since the winter of 2002. He has been a professional
mechanic since the fall of 1985. He started out working at an independent
German automotive repair shop. Then in the summer of 1987 he found
himself working at a Kubota Tractor dealership and as they say,
“the rest is history”. He worked his way around some
of the local equipment dealers and eventually opened his own mobile
equipment repair business at the beginning of 2000. Golden State
quickly became one of his best customers and when his daughter was
born in 2002 he went to work exclusively for Golden State.
Brian graduated from Universal Technical Institute in 1985 with
an Occupational Associate Degree in Auto/Diesel Technology. He currently
lives in Brentwood, CA with his wife Karen and daughter Sara.
Ross Willkom - Dispatching/Scheduling Director: Ross
joined Golden State in 2006, after graduating from Indiana University
with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science. Ross is a fan of the
Green Bay Packers and Oakland A's. Ross also follows several fringe
sports such as Golf, Tennis, and European Soccer. Ross is also an
aspiring musician, playing five different instruments.
Project Managers:
Our project managers are the backbone of our field operations.
They bring a wide variety of expertise to Golden State through education
and hands on experience.
Polo Cruz: Polo is our longest tenured Project
Manager, starting at Golden State in April of 1990.
Francisco Salgado: Francisco has been with Golden State
since April 1992.
Juan Corona: Juan has been with Golden State since May
of 1999.
Pedro Corona:
Pedro has been with Golden State since April of 2002.
Henry Carmona: Henry has been with Golden State since January
of 2004.
Dario Jara: Dario started with Golden
State as a crew leader in March of 2005.
